Introducing our 2017 Labor Day Retreat Speakers—who will guide us through our theme Joy in the Journey:

Pastors Valerie and Dan Carlson are currently serving at Mt Carmel Lutheran Church[Offsite Link] in San Luis Obispo. Valerie holds a B.A. in Social Work from the University of Washington and a M.Div. from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, CA. She has served as the pastor at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Bakersfield. Pastor Dan holds a B.A. of Philosophy from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and M.Div. from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley and was pastor of Christian Education at Emmanuel Lutheran in Bakersfield. Valerie and Dan are parents to their beautiful daughter Cora and two labradoodles[Offsite Link]. Pastor Valerie’s favorite and strongest role is preaching, and she does it with endless enthusiasm for life, Lutheranism and Jesus Christ! Dan has a passion for Camp Ministry and is excited to be with us at Mt. Cross. Valerie and Dan both love spending time outdoors.

Check-in at Mt Cross begins Saturday at 10:30. Lunch is served at noon.

Three sessions are planned:

  1.   1:00pm Saturday
  2. 10:30am Sunday (worship)
  3.   4:30pm Sunday

Each day will have time for fellowship, food, speakers, and games in the beautiful, rustic setting of Mt. Cross Camp, in Felton.
