THE EVERGREENS
The Art of Faithful Aging

Evergreens is a part of the Discipleship Ministry for Older Adults at Bethel Lutheran Church that seeks to enrich the second half of life by making deeper spiritual connections through opportunities which provide service to others, self expression, meaningful work and close friendships. We hope to be good stewards of this gift of extended life that God has given us in all of its dimensions, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Interactive programs emphasis the art of faithful aging by encourage persons to share life wisdom by teaching each other from the lifetime of experiences they have gained. We provide tools to leave a spiritual legacy through writing or telling life stories through audiovisual recording and writing an ethical will as well as the more traditional legal legacy of wills and trust. We also raise questions about life's meaning as we face life changes, personal growth and developing skills to handle the changes that occur. These include a variety of life enriching program of music, active health-care, and memory skills as well a trips to local parks, historical sites and sacred spaces.

We celebrate these gifts of extra years by recognizing the deeper meanings in later life events. Come join us from 10:30 to 12:30 for spiritual growth programs, followed by lunch and fellowship in the Fireside Room the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month except the following special holiday months. November we meet the third Thursday for Thanksgiving Dinner, and in December we meet only once for a Christmas Observation.
