  • The actions of Jesus show the horizon of the coming shalom-- peace, justice and joy in the Holy Spirit
  • The church shares that horizon, and with it the impulse to respond to the whole range of human need in humanity and in creation
  • Jesus’ compassionate responses to human need were an integral part of the message he preached
