| Description: |
For over 20 years, Sacred Heart Community Service has been offering layette kits to families who are either expecting a baby or have a newborn. The layette kit consists of diapers, a bottle, one or two blankets, sleepers, onesies, wipes and other infant hygiene products. The program began one day when a young father came into the Clothes Closet in a panic, in need of something to dress his baby in to leave the hospital. All that could be found for him that day was a couple of towels. A Sacred Heart staff member was inspired to reach out to her circle of friends to donate blankets and other items to welcome a newborn. Today, Sacred Heart gives away approximately 15 kits each month that help families give their newest member a warm and welcome home. Bethel is continuing its participating by holding a collection drive for 5 Sundays starting March 10 as part of our Lenten Discipline. On Sunday, April 14, the layette bags will be assembled for delivery to Sacred Heart Community Services. Contact Mark Evashenk if you would be able to deliver to SHCS (1381 South 1st Street, San Jose) Donation Schedule March 10 Diapers (24 count / newborn) March 17 Wipes, bottles, shampoo, socks March 24 Blankets (3 receiving blankets) March 31 Onesies (3) April 7 Sleepers (3)
