Title: Out 'n About Goes to Fleet Week
Date: Saturday, October 9
Time: 9:30AM - 6:30PM
Sponsoring Group/Ministry: Fellowship
Description: Fleet Week is returning to San Francisco. One of Fleet Week’s best events is the aerial show featuring the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels. The Blue Angel Squadron, made up of Boeing FA-18 Super Hornets, is known for their aerial aerobatics maneuvering in tight formations. Fortunately, for us, Bethel has planned the Saturday, October 9 Blue Angel performance as an Out ’n About event. Riding the Bethel Bus is a non-stressful way to travel to the heart of San Francisco and enjoy a day of watching the air show. The plan is to meet at Bethel at 9:30am. Tom will drive the Bethel Bus to Pier 40 near the Oracle Arena. At Pier 40, we will board a Water Taxi, which is reserved for 11:15am, to transport us to the Hyde Street Fishing Pier near Fisherman’s Wharf. The waterfront of Fisherman’s Wharf and Fort Mason has a clear view of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Blue Angel performance. The air show is 12pm-4pm with the main feature being the Blue Angel aerobatics starting at 3pm. If you have a hankering for mind-blowing attractions (well not quite mind-blowing) and shopping (mostly the tourist trap kind) for Pier 39, it is a short two blocks east of Fisherman’s Wharf on the Embarcadero. Or, you may head to Ghirardelli Square and hope the line is short for the World Famous Hot Fudge Sundae only $12.95 (900 cal). For those that are more adventurous, there will be a tour of the USCG Terrell Horne at Pier 19. At 5pm, the water taxi will meet us once again at the Hyde Street Fishing Pier for a smooth ride to Pier 40. The water taxi only holds 20 people so we limiting this Out’n About event to 20. If on the water is rough, we will be using Pier 39 instead of the Hyde Street Fishing Pier. The Captain of the Water Taxi will provide instructions. Call Paul at 408-679-9146 if you have any concerns during our trip. Please bring your Covid mask to this event. The cost is $25 per person to defray the expense for gas for the Bethel Bus and the Water Taxi. (Even the Popeil Pocket Fisherman cannot be bought for that price.) Come join us and have an astonishing, incredible, amazing, overwhelming, and unforgettable time.
