Come learn about the particle accelerator at SLAC (Stanford Linear Accelerator Center) National Lab. The SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory is a national basic research laboratory devoted to experimental and theoretical research in elementary particle physics, development of new techniques in high-energy accelerators and elementary particle detectors, and a broad program of research using synchrotron radiation. Research is being done from picturing atomic structures to making the next compact particle accelerator. Bethel member, Harumy Miura has been interning at SLAC the past 2 months. She has been working on data analysis of THz measurement. THz can be used to accelerate particles and more research needs to be done for applications like looking at atomic structures or making more compact particle accelerators.
