First Wednesday Speaker Series
An intelligent mind acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge. –Proverbs 18:15
Tuesday, August 1, 6:30–8:00pm
Fireside Room
In August we will break with tradition and have the speaker series on Tuesday August 1st. We anticipate welcoming Congressman Ro Khanna to Bethel that evening barring any changes in his schedule. Come and hear what is going on in Washington DC with our local house representative. There will also be some time to ask questions too!
Congressman Ro Khanna, 40, is a Representative of California’s 17th District in Congress’ 115th session. In the 2016 general election, he was elected to Congress, defeating 8-term incumbent Mike Honda. He is one of only six members of Congress who does not accept PAC contributions, continuing his efforts to keep politics and special interest money separate. He serves as a member of the Committee on the Budget and the Committee on Armed Services in Congress. In Congress, Ro serves as a strong voice for a progressive vision that promotes good jobs and wages for the 17th district and the United States of America.
Dinner is from Maggianos: Rigatoni Pasta with meat sauce, Chicken Piccata, Chopped Salad, and dessert. A freewill offering of $15 helps us cover costs.
If you plan to come, we really need to know. Please RSVP here.
