Newly Signed and Proposed Laws that Affect Homeowners and Renters in Sunnyvale and Cupertino
Wednesday, January 8, 6:30–8:00pm
Fireside Room
Holly Lofgren, our own ‘reporter’ of local and state policies and their effect on residents will be our speaker. She will talk about these main topics:
- Recent California laws and proposed new laws and how they affect/will affect homeowners and renters. Are single family homes a thing of the past? What regulations will impact what you can do on your property and when and where you can freely drive a private automobile.
- What is happening politically and what are they talking about all the time? Why is campaign finance so important at the local level. How are elections run today?
- Better Cupertino and the latest status on Vallco. Why is activity just yards away from the Apple Park campus, so hotly debated? Find out what the real facts are and what is the status of the court case.
- Sunnyvale Elections. What stinks about Measure B and what does ‘real representation’ look like! The ‘great opportunity’ and what is the reason for hope?
Holly will “spill it”. She will sort out the sound bites, and tell you what is really happening. Everyone in the congregation will want to attend to understand how all this could impact your home, your rental, your rental situation, your retirement savings and your life. If you live in Sunnyvale or Cupertino, this is an absolutely must attend.
Holly Lofgren is a community advocate with a special interest in housing issues especially in understanding the “why”. She works as a supply chain cost analyst for nonprofits. However, one of her biggest accomplishments was as Founder and Chairperson of Friends of the Fremont Pool. She raised $1M for a 50 meter swimming pool at Fremont High School which is jointly operated with the City of Sunnyvale. The Lofgrens have been members of the Bethel family for about 20 years. Holly is an invaluable “asset” during Bethel’s financial audits.
