Watch Bethel’s Jesus Loving LLama video and see Where we have been this summer, taking Jesus with us wherever we go, and our little llamas too. Take part in the pay it forward challenges as found in Bethel’s Take Out Church boxes. Would you like to help spread the love of llamas to someone who can really benefit from your generosity? Sponsor a llama through Heifer International! We know that most church websites do not have a webpage dedicated to llamas but we do and it is not just because we like llamas (we do). Llamas are very interesting animals! Some of their behaviors are great reminders to Christians on how to live in this world.
Did you know that llamas are bold?
The Denver Post reported about sheep, coyotes and llamas a few years back:
They reported that sheep farmer Lexy Fowler has tried just about everything to stop crafty coyotes from stealing her sheep. She has used odor sprays, electric fences, and ‘scare-coyotes.’
She has slept with her lambs during the summer and has placed battery-operated radios near them. She has corralled the sheep at night, herded them at day.
But the southern Montana rancher has lost scores of lambs, fifty last year alone. “Then she discovered the llama—the aggressive, funny-looking, afraid-of-nothing llama… ‘Llamas don’t appear to be afraid of anything,’ she said. ‘When they see something, they put their head up and walk straight toward it. Coyotes don’t like confrontation and they run away.’ ”
What a great reminder! Don’t live in the shadows like the coyote— be a Jesus loving llama and boldly face the opportunities that come your way.
The early church prayed for “boldness.” In Acts 4:29 it says, “Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.”
For us, llamas are just a reminder to be bold for Jesus. Not rude, not pushy, not mean…bold. That is why we want to be Jesus’ loving llamas in a world filled with coyotes!
May God bless you and your herd!
